Akinole-Oshiun Family Petitions Tinubu Over Land Dispute

The Akinole-Oshiun family from Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos State, has formally petitioned President Bola Tinubu over a land dispute concerning an 8,000-square-metre property along Lateef Jakande Road. They allege that James Faleke, the lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, and the Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA) are attempting to dispossess them of the land, despite several court judgments affirming their ownership of a larger area of approximately 398 acres.

The petition, dated September 4, 2026, was signed by Chief Isiaka Lamina Akiti Akinole and Prince Fatai Abayomi Oshiun. The family claims Faleke has threatened to use "presidential power" and the Nigeria Police Force to remove them from the property.

They assert that Faleke and OORBDA have begun interfering with the land based on a disputed long-term lease. The family has cited multiple judicial decisions, including a 1977 Lagos State High Court ruling and subsequent appeals, to support their claim and has obtained a writ of possession enforced in April 2019.
