Lagos State Makes Resident Registration Mandatory for Schools

The Lagos State Government has announced that from the 2026/2027 academic session, all public and private schools in Lagos State must require valid registration with the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) for student admission and enrollment. This directive will take effect on September 14, 2026.

The announcement was made by Adepeju Adeyemi, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), and approved by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Tolani Alli-Balogun. The initiative aims to create a comprehensive database of learners to enhance planning and service delivery in the education sector.

Schools are instructed to document each learner's LASRRA registration number and inform parents about this requirement. Parents are encouraged to register their children with LASRRA before the new academic session.

The OEQA, led by Dr Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa, will collaborate with LASRRA to establish procedures for assigning unique Personal Identification Numbers to learners and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
