LASRRA Warns Against Charging for Resident Registration

The Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) has issued a warning to its registration agents against collecting fees from residents for registration, asserting that the process is entirely free. General Manager Bilikis Adebiyi-Abiola delivered this message during a community sensitization program in Ajah, Lagos, on Thursday.

She encouraged residents to report any agents who request payment, reinforcing the agency's zero-tolerance policy towards such practices. Adebiyi-Abiola explained that LASRRA has enhanced its community-based registration efforts, visiting various locations to facilitate easier access for residents.

The agency currently has approximately seven million residents in its database and is working to increase this number by collaborating with the Office of Education Quality Assurance to extend registration to private schools. She emphasized the importance of registration for accessing government services and mentioned that LASRRA is providing slots at the Lagos State Trade Fair to showcase the benefits of being registered.

Oba Kolawole Olumegbon, the monarch of Okun Ajah Kingdom, praised LASRRA for its outreach efforts, noting improvements in local infrastructure due to better community understanding.
