Badagry Traditional Rulers Demand Political Power Shift

Traditional rulers from Badagry, represented by Dr. Oba Olalekan Sejuro Ogungb Jame, have called for a political power shift in Lagos State during a press conference.

They highlighted the historical and strategic importance of Badagry, which has not produced a governor since the creation of Lagos State in 1967. The monarchs argue that the current political structure is imbalanced and does not reflect the contributions of Badagry to trade, diplomacy, and cultural exchange.

They acknowledged the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the role of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in national politics, while also referencing the need for reforms, including student loan initiatives and infrastructure development. The traditional rulers stressed the importance of justice and equitable power distribution to foster unity and deepen democratic values in Lagos State.

They reaffirmed their loyalty to the APC and emphasized Badagry's potential for economic growth, particularly in tourism and cross-border commerce.
