Lagos Judiciary Announces New Legal Year Events

The Lagos State Judiciary has announced the commencement of the 2026/2027 New Legal Year, with a Thanksgiving Service scheduled for September 21 and a Legal Year Summit on September 22. The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Chief Registrar, Mr. Tajudeen Adegbenga Elias.

The Thanksgiving Service will take place simultaneously at 10 am on September 21 at the Central Mosque on Nnamdi Azikiwe Street and the Cathedral Church of Christ in Marina, Lagos. This dual venue choice reflects the Judiciary's commitment to inclusivity and interfaith harmony, allowing the legal community and the public to express gratitude as the new legal year begins.

The Legal Year Summit will occur on September 22 at 10 am at The Jewel Aeida in Lekki, Lagos, and aims to gather judicial officers, legal practitioners, policymakers, academics, and other stakeholders to discuss issues impacting the administration of justice in Lagos State and Nigeria. This annual ceremony serves as a platform for the Judiciary to reflect on the previous year, set priorities for the new judicial calendar, and reaffirm its commitment to the rule of law and effective justice delivery.
