Sanwo-Olu Calls for Judiciary Integrity in Lagos State

On a recent occasion marking the commencement of the 2026/2027 Legal Year of the Lagos State Judiciary, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emphasized the need for judges and lawyers to protect the independence and integrity of the judiciary. Speaking through Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Sanwo-Olu stated that the institution of justice must endure beyond individuals and political cycles.

He highlighted that the strength of his legacy would be measured not just by infrastructure but also by the institutions strengthened for future generations. Sanwo-Olu linked an effective justice system to the economic fortunes of Lagos, asserting that public confidence in the justice system is crucial for stability and development.

He assured the judiciary of the state government's continued support in improving access to justice while stressing that integrity and courage among those administering justice are vital. Right Rev. Dr James Odedeji, Bishop of Lagos West Diocese, reinforced this message, urging justice-sector stakeholders to avoid compromising their responsibilities.
