Activists Demand Justice in Lagos Murder Case

Family members of the late Ademola Akinloy, represented by his younger sister Adeola Ogundimu, along with activists from the Centre for Human Rights and Socio-Economic Justice, held a press conference in Lagos to condemn calls for the release of a murder suspect. The suspect is alleged to have killed two residents in Ajiran, with the incident occurring in April 2023.

Ogundimu described the pain of her brother's death and emphasized the family's struggle for justice, despite facing intimidation. Activist Alex Omotehins criticized attempts to distort facts surrounding the killings and urged the public to allow the legal process to unfold.

He reaffirmed that civil society organizations should support accountability rather than shield individuals facing serious criminal allegations. The family and activists expressed concern over recent court proceedings, where they alleged that family members were denied access to support the prosecution.

They called on the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to ensure impartial handling of the case.
