Lagos Launches Cleaner Energy Contest for Schools

The Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has initiated the Cleaner Energy School Innovation Challenge for secondary schools, as announced on Friday. The program is designed to promote clean energy innovations among students and is open to senior secondary schools across three educational districts.

Each participating school must form a team of five students, supervised by a teacher mentor, to develop practical clean energy solutions. The competition will take place at the district level, with successful teams advancing to the state championship.

Biodun Ogunley, the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, stated that the initiative aims to encourage critical thinking and creativity among students while supporting the development of solutions to Nigeria's energy challenges. The ministry has urged eligible secondary schools to complete their registration through the official application portal, with guidelines available on the Lagos State Government's official website.
