TotalEnergies Expands Environmental Initiative in Lagos

TotalEnergies, in partnership with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), has expanded its environmental education and recycling initiative to additional schools in Lagos. This program, commemorating the 2026 World Environment Day and aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 on climate action, aims to instill environmental responsibility among young Nigerians.
Wilfri Kond, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc, emphasized the company's long-standing commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development. The initiative has already reached 10 schools around the company's service stations in Apapa, Surulere, and Victoria Island, benefiting approximately 500 students through environmental education sessions.
The program includes the donation of recycling bins and promotes inter-school environmental activities. TotalEnergies plans to extend the initiative to four additional schools in Yaba and Apapa, with a goal of collecting 12,596 kilograms of recyclable waste by June 2026.
Adesua Adewol, General Manager of TotalEnergies Nigeria, highlighted the importance of teaching proper waste disposal and recycling to nurture environmentally conscious citizens.
