Lagos Leads Nigeria's Fuel Consumption With 205.7 Million Liters of Petrol

Lagos emerged as Nigeria's top consumer of petrol, using 205.7 million liters in June, according to data from the Nigerian Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority. The report highlighted the state's economic significance and bustling transportation network, with Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory following closely in consumption.

The distribution of 1 billion liters of gasoline across states showcased regional differences, with Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo receiving the highest allocations. The report also noted a shortfall of 230 million liters per day in domestic refining, leading to increased imports to meet demand.

Industry insiders emphasized the need to address this imbalance to ensure a consistent supply of fuel nationwide. Dangote Petroleum Refinery currently distributes 40 million liters of gasoline daily in the domestic market to help bridge the gap.
