NSCDC Rescues 125 Victims, Arrests 18 in Lagos Crackdown

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, conducted a series of operations between July 14 and July 20, 2026, resulting in the rescue of 125 victims and the arrest of 18 suspects in Badagry. The operations targeted school vandals, operators of a fake university, Ponzi scheme promoters, human traffickers, and cross-border crime syndicates.

A significant breakthrough occurred on July 20 when operatives raided a fake university in Imeke, leading to the arrest of six male suspects aged 24 to 31, who were allegedly offering illegal admissions for unaccredited courses. Investigations revealed that 107 students were lured into a Ponzi investment scheme.

Additionally, a Cameroonian national was arrested on July 19 for operating a Ponzi scheme and facilitating illegal entry into Nigeria. The command also arrested seven suspects for vandalizing public school infrastructure, including five minors.

Commandant Adedotun Sunday Keshinro emphasized the need for caution among prospective students regarding fraudulent institutions.
