NSCDC Rescues 80 Trafficking Victims in Abuja

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has rescued 80 victims of human trafficking and related offences over the last three years, as stated by FCT Commandant Dr Olusola Odumosu. This announcement was made during a ceremony commemorating the 2026 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons in Abuja.

The event, organized by the NSCDC FCT Command Anti-Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration Unit in collaboration with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), took place at the NSCDC FCT Command Headquarters in Wuse Zone 5. Odumosu revealed that 35 suspects were arrested during this period, with 32 rescued victims handed over to NAPTIP.

He called for strengthening the capacity of investigators to utilize digital intelligence and technology to combat trafficking, highlighting the increasing use of technology by traffickers. Odumosu noted that traffickers exploit vulnerabilities and that the digital environment has changed their operational methods significantly.
