NSCDC Engages 56 Communities to Safeguard Infrastructure

In 2026, the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) conducted 56 community engagements aimed at protecting critical infrastructure and preventing vandalism of public assets. Commandant Mr. Adedotun Keshinro announced this initiative, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between security agencies, communities, and infrastructure operators.

The sensitization programs aimed to encourage residents to provide timely intelligence to assist in safeguarding electricity installations and other vital public assets. During a meeting with the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), Mrs. Sheri Adegbenro, represented by Deputy Chief Executive Officer Mr. Bolaji Simon, Keshinro highlighted the NSCDC's commitment to leveraging digital technology alongside traditional security measures.

The engagement aligns with the NSCDC's mandate under the NSCDC Amendment Act of 2007 and the National Protection Policy and Strategy (NPPS) 2024, focusing on enhancing security awareness in vulnerable areas and fostering a collective responsibility for protecting public infrastructure.
