NSCDC Rescues 125 Victims, Arrests 18 in Lagos Crackdown

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos state command, conducted a series of operations from July 14 to July 20, 2026, resulting in the rescue of 125 victims and the arrest of 18 suspects in Badagry. The operations targeted school vandals, operators of a fake university, Ponzi scheme promoters, human traffickers, and cross-border crime syndicates.

A significant breakthrough occurred on July 19, when operatives raided a fake university in Imeke, Olorunda Local Council Development Area, where illegal admissions for unaccredited courses were being offered. Six male suspects, aged between 24 and 31, were arrested, and 107 unsuspecting students were reportedly lured into a Ponzi investment scheme.

Additionally, on July 18, a Cameroonian national was arrested for operating a Ponzi scheme and facilitating illegal entry into Nigeria. The previous day, another suspect was apprehended for human trafficking, leading to the rescue of 10 Cameroonian nationals who had suffered exploitation.
