Lagos Police Arrest Two in Vehicle Vandalism Syndicate
The Lagos State Police Command has dismantled a vehicle vandalism syndicate that has been terrorizing motorists in Lagos. Two suspects, Uba Chigozie (46) and Onyeka Emordi (37), were arrested by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, supervised by CSP Sunday Cirman.
Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the arrests and stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other gang members. The syndicate targeted valuable vehicle components, including brain boxes and air-conditioning vents, which they could remove in under ten minutes, earning up to N100,000 per operation.
Chigozie, a former spare-parts dealer, was arrested at a hotel in Ijesha where he had been staying for four months. He confessed to participating in vehicle vandalism for about ten years, attributing his actions to financial hardship after his shop was demolished.
The gang reportedly sold stolen parts through contacts in the Ladipo Auto Spare Parts Market.
