Three Arrested for Vehicle Parts Theft in Lagos

Three suspected members of a vehicle parts theft syndicate were arrested at the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) in Oshodi, Lagos, while allegedly attempting to remove a brain-box from a Toyota Hilux operational vehicle belonging to the agency. The suspects, Kazzim Iyiola, aka Sabela, 46; Mohammed Rabiu; and Alhaji Musa Saleh, 56, were apprehended by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, also known as the Lagos State Task Force.

A fourth suspect, identified only as Tony, a motor-parts dealer, is still at large. The Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, CSP Adetayo Akerele, stated that the suspects had been under surveillance due to complaints about the theft of vehicle parts from parked vehicles.

Kazzim admitted that the gang targeted stationary vehicles and had previously stolen several parts, selling them to Tony for ₦70,000. Akerele assured that the suspects would face prosecution and urged the public to report suspicious activities.
