Lagos State to Launch Climate Finance Clinic in 2026

The Lagos State Government, through Titi Oshodi, announced plans to host its first climate finance clinic on July 15-16, 2026. This initiative aims to strengthen Nigeria's climate finance ecosystem and unlock investments for sustainable development.

The clinic will focus on bridging the gap between circular economy growth and climate finance, preparing bankable climate projects. This announcement follows Lagos State's participation in the London Climate Action Week, where Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu signed a memorandum of understanding to formally join the Under2 Coalition, a global network of subnational governments committed to achieving net-zero emissions.

Oshodi emphasized that the clinic will serve as a vehicle for implementing the state's investment framework, ensuring that climate projects are technically sound and financially attractive to investors. The initiative aims to channel funds into climate solutions and enhance the capacity of financial institutions to assess climate risks.

The event will conclude with the Climate Finance Excellence Recognition Award Night, honoring contributions to climate finance and sustainable development in Nigeria.
