Lagos to Host Black African History Global Iconic Awards

The Black African History Global Iconic Awards will take place in Lagos on July 5, 2026, organized by Bahgia. The awards aim to honor Black Africans and those of African descent whose contributions often go unrecognized.

Lovethpatra Ekufu, the president of Bahgia, emphasized the awards' goal of celebrating excellence and inspiring young people across the continent. The event will recognize outstanding individuals in various fields, including sports, politics, business, education, art, and entertainment.

Charl Ezerim, vice president of Bahgia, noted the importance of collaboration with relevant government institutions to ensure the event's success. Olisa Chukwuma, the head strategist, highlighted the role of sports in youth development.

The awards will feature a conference addressing issues affecting African youth, followed by a gala night honoring winners in 20 categories. Lagos was chosen as the host city due to its cultural significance and strategic role in promoting Nigerian brands on the global stage.
