Lagos Youths Contribute N4.5 Trillion to GDP Annually

During a dialogue held in Abuja, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu revealed that the youth in Lagos contribute N4.5 trillion annually to the state's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The event, which was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima and organized by the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, aimed to address the urgent need for human infrastructure development in Nigeria.

Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to Shettima for hosting the dialogue, which served as a precursor to the forthcoming Lagos Leadership Summit. The summit will attract members of the Federal Executive Council, politicians, and private sector stakeholders.

The dialogue emphasized the importance of a structured leadership development system to empower youth and address societal challenges. The Lagos economy is projected to grow significantly, with its GDP estimated at N259.75 billion in 2023, reflecting substantial growth in the first half of 2024.

The event underscored the need for collaboration between state and federal institutions to enhance youth development and resource allocation.
