Lakurawa Militants Attack Kebbe Town, Four Soldiers Feared Dead

On Friday, more than 300 suspected Lakurawa militants on motorcycles invaded Kebbe town in Kebbe Local Government Area, Sokoto State, around 10 a.m. They engaged in a gun battle with soldiers stationed at a nearby military base.

Security expert Bashar Altine reported that four soldiers were allegedly killed during the confrontation, although this casualty figure could not be independently verified. DSP Ahmed Rufai, spokesman for the Sokoto State Police Command, confirmed the incident but could not confirm casualties.

The militants attacked shops, a hospital, and vehicles, stealing mobile phones and bread. They also damaged a military vehicle equipped with a rocket-propelled grenade.

After the attack, the militants withdrew towards communities west of Kebbe, reportedly entering Ungushi town. Altine stated that no Lakurawa fighters had been confirmed killed by soldiers at the time of reporting.

The incident has raised concerns about the activities of Lakurawa militants in Sokoto and neighboring areas.
