LASU Student Dies Following Armed Robbery Attack

Otabor Boluwatif Joseph, a student in the Department of History and International Studies at Lagos State University (LASU), died from injuries sustained during an armed robbery attack in the Iba area of Lagos on the night of May 29, 2026. The university confirmed the tragic news in a statement issued by Mr.

Olaniyi Jeariogb, the Acting Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations. Following the incident, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr.

Abiodun Fatai Abatan, provided support and maintained contact with medical personnel involved in Joseph's treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries on June 2, 2026.

In response, LASU officials met with Joseph's family at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital and are cooperating with law enforcement agencies to ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution of those responsible for the attack. Prof.
