Kola Oseni Honored for Contributions to Nigerian Politics

Kola Oseni, a significant figure in Nigeria's progressive political movement, has been commemorated by former leaders of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) following his passing. In a statement, Umar Farouk and Yunana Shibkau praised Oseni for his unwavering commitment to democracy and good governance.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also paid tribute, referring to Oseni as a "warrior of democracy" and acknowledging his role as a political mentor. Oseni's political career included serving as the Lagos State organizational secretary for the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) and later as a founding member of the AD, where he held positions on the national executive committee.

His strategic support was crucial in Tinubu's successful bid for the Lagos West senatorial seat in 1992 and during his 1999 gubernatorial campaign. Oseni's influence extended beyond Nigeria, as he mobilized political support even while residing in the United States.
