Niniola Apata Mourns Husband Michael Ndika's Death

Niniola Apata, a prominent Nigerian Afro-house singer, announced the death of her husband and long-time manager, Michael Ndika, on May 19. Ndika, who was 44 years old, reportedly suffered complications from a cerebrovascular accident, commonly known as a stroke, after battling high blood pressure.

He was taken to the intensive care unit at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital shortly after experiencing health issues on May 1. Niniola shared her heartbreak on social media, stating, "God took my husband," and reflected on their 13-year relationship.

She had previously described Ndika as her "best-kept secret" during a 2025 interview with Yanga FM, where she denied being married and dismissed online speculation about their union. Ndika was the CEO of Naijareview, a multimedia platform focused on Afro-house and African music, and played a significant role in shaping Niniola's career since her debut single "Ibadi" in 2014.
