LAWMA Celebrates Summer School Participants' Skills

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) held a grand finale for its 2026 Summer School program at its headquarters in Ijora-Olopa, where participants showcased their acquired skills. Engr. Olakunle Rotimi-Akodu, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on the Environment, commended LAWMA for this initiative, calling it a significant investment in young people's environmental awareness.

He encouraged participants to use their knowledge to become environmental ambassadors in their communities. Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, explained that the LAWMA Academy aims to educate and empower youth about responsible waste management and the economic opportunities within the sector.

He noted that effective waste management could create jobs and support economic development. Mrs. Hauwa Momoh-Ajibola, Head of the LAWMA Academy, provided an overview of the four-week program, which included practical activities on waste sorting, recycling, and responsible disposal.
