Peter Obi Criticizes Forgery Defense by Lawmakers

On Tuesday, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), addressed a gathering in Bauchi, accusing senators, members of the House of Representatives, and Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) of defending forgery in Nigeria. He criticized religious leaders for praying for corrupt politicians, stating that the nation is in a crisis.

Obi pointed out that lawmakers have removed forgery as an offense in electoral matters and lamented the current state of the judiciary, contrasting it with his experience when he was declared governor by judges he had never met. He emphasized that such impartial judgments are now impossible in Nigeria.

Obi urged Nigerians to reflect on the country's direction, stating, “unexamined life is not worth living,” and called for collective introspection about Nigeria's future.
