Abiriba Monarch Urges Integrity Among Leaders in Nigeria

On September 13, 2026, Eze Kalu Kalu, Ogbu IV, the Enachioken of Abiriba Kingdom and Paramount Ruler of the Abiriba people, addressed the leadership crisis in Nigeria, attributing it to the erosion of integrity among traditional rulers and political leaders. Speaking at the Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ) award ceremony, where he was honored as the Most Outstanding Integrity Royal Father of the Year 2026, he urged traditional rulers and politicians to restore the moral standards expected of them.

Eze Kalu expressed concern over some traditional rulers compromising their offices by aligning too closely with politicians, which risks undermining their moral authority. He emphasized that the leadership crisis is a broader institutional issue, not solely the fault of politicians.

Other speakers, including NACJ President Dr. Charles Okhai, echoed his sentiments, linking Nigeria's corruption and culture of impunity to a deficit of integrity and patriotism, and stressing the importance of integrity at all societal levels.
