Monarch Appeals for Road and Water Crisis Solutions

Eze Chike Okorie, the traditional ruler of Ntalakwu Ancient Kingdom in Itumbauzor, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, has appealed to the Federal Government and Abia State Governor Alex Otti for urgent repairs to the dilapidated Umuokpe Ntalakwu road and to address the ongoing water crisis in his community. Okorie, a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police, expressed that the poor condition of the road and lack of potable water have significantly worsened economic hardships and health issues among his people, who are predominantly farmers.

He recounted a recent incident where a vehicle carrying a corpse became stuck in mud on the road, forcing local youths to carry the casket to the burial site. Okorie criticized the government for focusing on road projects in other areas while neglecting his community.

He highlighted that residents rely on a single community stream for drinking and bathing, posing health risks. The President-General of Umuokpe Ntalakwu Concerned Citizens, William Osondu, and Women Leader Divine Uka echoed these concerns, noting difficulties in accessing schools and markets.
