Nigerian Local Government Chairman Destroys Railway Assets, Claims Governor's Instructions

The Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government Area in Nigeria reportedly led the destruction of railway assets along with a group that included individuals dressed in Nigerian Army uniforms and suspected thugs. The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) accused the chairman of vandalizing critical rail infrastructure, claiming that he acted on the instructions of Governor Seyi Makinde.

The NRC condemned the incident as a serious violation of federal assets and vowed to pursue appropriate legal action to protect its properties. The NRC also called on Makinde to intervene and prevent further breakdown of law and order.

The chairman of the NRC, Kayode Opeifa, appealed to Makinde to order the local government chairman to desist from further actions that undermine railway operations and workers' rights.
