AS Monaco Sacks Coach Sebastien Pocognoli After Poor Season

AS Monaco has officially announced the dismissal of coach Sebastien Pocognoli after just eight months in charge. Pocognoli, who joined the club in October 2022 from Union Saint-Gilloise, was unable to secure a top-three finish in Ligue 1, ending the season in seventh place.

This performance resulted in the club missing out on Champions League qualification for the next season, although they secured a spot in the UEFA Conference League playoffs. Pocognoli's contract was set to run until the conclusion of the 2025-2026 season.

Alongside Pocognoli, two assistant coaches, Kevin Mirallas and Artur Kopyt, were also dismissed. The club's poor end to the campaign ultimately cost them a chance at Champions League football.

Former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid defender Filip Luis is reportedly a favorite to take over as the new coach.
