Javier Milei Critiques UN and Announces US Cooperation Initiative

Argentine President Javier Milei criticized the United Nations (UN) during his address on Wednesday, claiming it has failed to fulfill its mandate on collective security and human rights. He accused the UN of allowing "chaos, violence and international terrorism" to thrive and described it as a "useless organisation" with officials acting as "arrogant parasites." Milei also raised Argentina's sovereignty claim over the Falkland Islands, asserting that the UN has inadequately addressed this issue and has "looked the other way." He argued that the international system has failed to impose consistent consequences for violations of international rules.

Additionally, Milei's address coincided with the announcement of a new initiative, the Andes-Atlantic Corridor, aimed at enhancing infrastructure and economic connections between Argentina and the United States. This initiative focuses on investment in transport, digital infrastructure, and energy, particularly around the Vaca Muerta hydrocarbon deposit.

Milei emphasized his close relationship with US President Donald Trump, viewing the corridor as a means to connect Argentina's sectors to international markets.
