Large Voter Turnout in Ikire for Osun Governorship Election

On Saturday, a significant turnout of voters was observed in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, during the ongoing governorship election. Many residents arrived at polling units as early as 7 a.m. to check voter registers for their names ahead of the accreditation process.

Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present at several polling units before 7 a.m., preparing for the accreditation and voting. Security operatives, including unarmed police officers and armed personnel, were deployed throughout the town to ensure order and safety.

Despite the heavy security presence, the atmosphere remained peaceful, allowing electoral officials to continue their preparations. Ikire is the hometown of Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, who is expected to cast his ballot at Ward 9, Unit 3, AUD School, Atile, Ikire.

The election is crucial as voters will elect the governor to lead Osun State for the next four years.
