Liverpool Targets Barcelona's Alejandro Balde for January Move

Liverpool is monitoring Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde as manager Andoni Iraola looks to address concerns in the left-back position at Anfield. Despite significant summer signings, including Bradley Barcola, Victor Muñoz, and Ronald Araújo on loan, early performances have raised questions, particularly regarding Milos Kerkez and Kostas Tsimikas.

Balde, 22, has seen his playing time diminish under Barcelona manager Thomas Flick, with Xavi Espart and João Cancelo preferred in the left-back role. This situation has led to speculation that Balde may seek a transfer in January.

Although Manchester United showed interest in Balde during the summer, a move did not materialize due to a rejected loan proposal and difficulties with the financial structure of a permanent deal. Reports suggest Barcelona might consider offers around £34 million for Balde, despite his contract containing an £856 million release clause.

Liverpool's existing relationship with Barcelona, highlighted by the loan of Ronald Araújo, could facilitate negotiations.
