Lloyd’s Register Collaborates with Chevening for Nigerian Maritime Leaders

Lloyd’s Register has entered a partnership with the UK Government’s Chevening Scholarship Programme to foster the development of future Nigerian maritime leaders. This collaboration provides outstanding Nigerian professionals pursuing maritime-related studies with the opportunity to undertake fully funded master’s degrees at leading UK universities.
Jonny Baxter, the British Deputy High Commissioner in Lagos, emphasized that this initiative would equip emerging leaders with essential skills and networks to drive innovation, sustainability, and growth in Nigeria’s maritime sector, which he described as vital for trade and economic development. Goz Gwam, Business Director for Africa at Lloyd’s Register, stated that the collaboration aims to cultivate maritime leaders who can advance Nigeria’s and Africa’s growth while strengthening UK–Nigeria relations.
The Chevening Programme, established in 1983, is funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and partner organizations, supporting one-year taught master’s degrees at UK universities for individuals with leadership potential.
