NUPENG Alerts DSS: Alleged Plot to Disrupt Oil Workers' Union Leadership

The Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) raised an alarm about a potential oil crisis, alleging a plot to disrupt its leadership. The union accused an unidentified group of trying to destabilize the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) branch by promoting a fictitious elder forum.

NUPENG urged security agencies to intervene and warned the public to disregard any communication from the alleged impostors. The union linked this scheme to a previous attack on its leadership in Abuja.

NUPENG called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and the police to treat the impersonators as criminals and arrest those behind the plot. The union also directed stakeholders in the petroleum supply chain to engage only with the officially recognized PTD leadership.
