LPPC Elevates 68 Legal Practitioners to SAN Rank

On July 23, 2026, the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) convened its 174th Plenary Session in Abuja, where it approved the elevation of 68 legal practitioners to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). This prestigious rank is awarded to legal practitioners who have demonstrated exceptional distinction in advocacy or significant contributions to legal scholarship.

The announcement was made by Mr. Kabir Akanbi, the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court and Secretary of the LPPC.

The LPPC, chaired by Hon. Justice Kudirat Motonmon Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, GCON, emphasized that all shortlisted candidates must attend a mandatory Pre-Swearing-In Induction Programme to formally receive the SAN rank.

Additionally, the committee reminded prospective SAN conferees to refrain from publishing advertisements or congratulatory messages regarding their nomination or conferment, as violations may lead to sanctions.
