68 Lawyers Elevated to Senior Advocate of Nigeria Rank

The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has approved the elevation of 68 legal practitioners to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) during its 174th plenary session on Thursday, chaired by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun. Nnamdi Onyeka Obiaraeri, recognized for his contributions to legal scholarship. The LPPC stated that the SAN rank is awarded to practitioners who have shown exceptional distinction in advocacy or significant contributions to legal academia.

All successful applicants must complete a mandatory pre-swearing-in induction programme before the formal conferment of the rank. The date for this induction will be announced later.

The LPPC reminded the successful applicants to adhere to specific guidelines regarding the publication of their nomination or conferment, warning that violations could lead to sanctions. The formal swearing-in ceremony for the 68 successful applicants is set for Monday, October 12, 2026.
