Lungi Barracks Wins 2026 Abuja Military Youth Games

Lungi Barracks emerged as the overall champions of the 2026 Chief of Defence Staff Abuja Military Barracks Youth Sports Championship, which took place from August 3 to 7, 2026. The championship, organized by the Defence Headquarters, featured intense competitions in basketball, volleyball, and football among eight barracks in Abuja.

Lungi Barracks topped the medals table with two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal. Mogadishu Cantonment secured second place with two gold, one silver, and one bronze, while NAF Valley Base finished third with one gold and one bronze.

The final day saw Mambilla Barracks defeat Lungi Barracks 4–2 on penalties for the men’s football title. Lungi Barracks also won the men’s basketball and women’s volleyball titles, while NAF Valley Base claimed the women’s basketball title.

Cash prizes were awarded to winners and runners-up, and General Olufemi Oluyede emphasized the championship's role in character building and youth empowerment. Fredricks Marcus represented the athletes, expressing gratitude to the organizers and highlighting the importance of the experience gained.
