Abuja All Stars Veterans Tournament Set for August 2026

The 6th Abuja All Stars Veterans tournament is scheduled to commence on August 8 and run through September 2026 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, featuring 21 teams competing across four groups. LOC Chairman Umar Abubakar Aliyu, also known as Coach Ali, stated that the tournament has been redesigned to enhance player participation, allowing each team to play at least four matches before the knockout rounds.

The prize money is set at N2.5 million for the winners, N1.5 million for the runners-up, and N1 million for third place. The tournament rules have been tailored for veteran players, primarily over the age of 50, with reduced match durations.

LOC Vice Chairman Captain Unity Oseghe encouraged clubs to participate actively on opening day, promising a memorable ceremony. Barrister Aitai Effiong, Vice President of All Stars International, noted the tournament's focus on recreation and social interaction rather than competition.

Former Super Eagles stars Samson Siasia and Patrick Bassey will also participate, with matches scheduled every Saturday.
