Macron to Strengthen France-Nigeria Partnership in Visit

French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to make a state visit to Nigeria later this year, as announced by French Ambassador to Nigeria, Marc Fonbausti. This visit is expected to mark a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between France and Nigeria, following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's state visit to Paris two years prior.

During the visit, both leaders will assess the progress made on the roadmap for bilateral relations, which includes key elements aimed at mutual benefits for both nations. The ambassador emphasized the importance of the partnership, built on mutual respect and shared aspirations for economic growth, job creation, and regional stability.

The visit will also provide an opportunity to strengthen cooperation in agriculture, security, and cultural exchanges. Ambassador Fonbausti highlighted Nigeria's critical role in regional peace and the necessity for collaboration to combat terrorism in West Africa.

He also noted ongoing French support for various programs targeting women, youth, and food security in Nigeria.
