Macron to Visit Nigeria for Strategic Partnership Talks

French President Emmanuel Macron is scheduled to visit Nigeria in the fall, as confirmed by Marc Fonbausti, the French ambassador to Nigeria, during a speech on France's National Day in Abuja. This visit follows the two-year anniversary of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's state visit to Paris.

The two presidents will assess the progress of their strategic partnership and discuss mutual benefits for both nations. Ambassador Fonbausti emphasized the importance of equality in the partnership and the shared goals of economic and social development, job creation, and environmental protection.

He highlighted recent commercial partnerships and ongoing cooperation in agriculture, particularly projects aimed at strengthening food security in Nigeria and the ECOWAS region. The ambassador also reiterated the commitment of both countries to combat terrorism and enhance regional security, stressing the need for a united approach to address insecurity in the region.
