Police Lockdown Osun State Ahead of Governorship Election

Ahead of the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, police have enforced a lockdown in Osun State, deploying the Deputy Inspector-General of Police and 30 commissioners of police to ensure security and prevent incidents during the electoral process. The police emphasized that this deployment is part of measures to maintain law and order, urging residents and political actors to comply with security directives.

Concurrently, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has announced the selection of former DSS Director-General Yusuf Magaji Bichi Daura as his running mate for the 2027 general elections. This decision is part of Makinde's strategy to strengthen his political ticket and broaden support.

He has also called for cooperation among opposition figures and parties as political realignments continue in preparation for the upcoming elections.
