Oyo State Unveils Surveillance Aircraft for Security

On Tuesday, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde officially received two surveillance aircraft, fulfilling a strategic initiative aimed at bolstering the state's security architecture. This acquisition, announced a year prior, addresses the expansive landmass of Oyo State and the need for rapid aerial intelligence to support ground security operations.

Makinde acknowledged unforeseen security challenges, including recent abductions, but emphasized that the investment in aerial surveillance was timely. He expressed satisfaction with the aircraft's arrival and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to the safety and welfare of residents.

The aircraft will be operational immediately, with a partnership established with the Nigerian Air Force for effective deployment. The Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, noted that the arrival of the aircraft marks a significant step in enhancing security operations through improved intelligence gathering.

The purchase was initially announced on July 8, 2025.
