Oyo State to Receive Surveillance Aircraft by July End

Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, announced that two surveillance aircraft are expected to arrive by the end of July 2023, aimed at strengthening security operations across the state. The delay in delivery is attributed to the manufacturing and assembly process in China.

The aircraft, which will be stationed at the Nigerian Air Force hangar in Ikeja, Lagos State, are intended to support rescue operations following recent school abductions in the Oriire Local Government Area. Governor Seyi Makinde informed the state executive council that the aircraft, valued at ₦7,763,360,000, will enhance intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities along the Oyo-Kwara border and the Republic of Benin.

Additionally, the council approved an interest-free loan of ₦3 billion for indigenous cassava processing factories and other infrastructural projects to boost employment and agricultural productivity in the state.
