Former Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Resigns from PDP Alongside Prominent Figures

Bisi Ilaka, who previously served as the Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP). In a resignation letter dated February 10, 2026, addressed to the chairman of Ward 5 in Oyo East LGA, Ilaka cited personal reasons for his decision to leave the party.

Ilaka, known for his political profile, was appointed as Makinde's first Chief of Staff in May 2019 and served in that capacity until 2021 when he was succeeded by Segun Ogunwuyi. Following the 2023 elections, Ogunwuyi was reappointed for a second term.

Ilaka's resignation comes after the departure of another prominent PDP figure, Agboola Ayoola, who resigned from the party in October 2025. Ayoola, a former Deputy Chief Whip in the Senate, had a lengthy record of public service and had been associated with the PDP for a significant period.

Ilaka and Ayoola's exits mark a notable shift within the PDP in Oyo State.
