Manchester City FC Denies Financial Breaches, Plans Appeal

Manchester City FC has publicly rejected the findings of an independent Premier League Commission that found the club guilty of serious financial-rule breaches over a nine-season period, specifically from the 2009/10 to the 2017/18 seasons. The Commission concluded that City had engaged in practices that artificially inflated revenues and reduced costs by over £900 million through “sham” commercial agreements.

In a statement, Manchester City expressed disappointment and surprise at the Commission's opinion, asserting its innocence and claiming to possess a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence. The club announced its intention to appeal the findings, stating that the opinion contains material errors of law, principle, and fact.

Manchester City emphasized that it had respected the regulatory process throughout the proceedings and questioned the independence of the Premier League's regulatory framework. The club is restricted from disclosing further details until the ongoing proceedings are complete.

The Premier League has granted Manchester City until October 2 to file its appeal.
