Nigerian Man Goes Off-Grid with Solar Energy Setup

On August 26, a Nigerian man revealed that he had gone off-grid by installing a complete solar inverter system for his home, spending around N2,286,500. He shared a detailed cost breakdown and a payment receipt confirming the transfer via PalmPay.

The system features a Sako 6.2KVA inverter costing N450,000, an Africell 5.1kw lithium battery priced at N950,000, and five 650W solar panels along with miscellaneous components totaling N887,000. He stated that the setup can power all household appliances, including a borehole pump, while he retains his NEPA connection as a backup.

To finance the project, he withdrew $1,690 from Binance a day prior. His announcement reflects a growing trend among Nigerians seeking solar energy solutions due to the unreliable national grid and increasing costs associated with petrol generators.
