Man Sentenced to 12 Years for Rape and Assault

Olukanyinsola Odebode, a 30-year-old man, was sentenced to 12 years in prison by Swansea Crown Court after being convicted of one count of rape and two counts of assault by penetration. The offences occurred between June 2024 and September 2025, with Odebode raping one woman in the Gwent Police area and sexually assaulting another in the Dyfed-Powys Police area while on bail.

Prosecutor Mark Wyeth KC described Odebode as “very predatory,” and a Probation Service report indicated he posed a high risk of serious harm. The judge, Huw Rees, noted the profound impact of Odebode's actions on his victims and highlighted concerns about his lack of insight into his offending.

Odebode received a 12-year extended sentence, consisting of nine years in custody and three years on licence, with eligibility for release after serving two-thirds of his custodial term. He will remain on the sex offenders’ register for life.
