Nigerian Man Sentenced for Sexual Assault in London

Obinwa Obichukwu, a 45-year-old man from Armstrong Close, Hertfordshire, was sentenced to two years in prison at Inner London Crown Court on July 21, 2023, after being found guilty of two counts of sexual assault in January. The incidents occurred on the evening of August 20, 2023, at Euston railway station in London, where Obichukwu approached the victim, asked about her music, and attempted to engage her in conversation.

He then grabbed her hand and sexually assaulted her at the station entrance and again near the ticket barriers after following her. The victim managed to escape and reported the incident to the police.

The British Transport Police arrested Obichukwu at his home, and his conviction was supported by the victim's testimony and CCTV evidence. In addition to his prison sentence, the court imposed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and mandated that he remain on the UK sex offenders register for 10 years.

Detective Constable Daniel Burke described Obichukwu as a "sexual predator.".
