UNIOSUN Management Denies Negligence in Student's Death

The management of Osun State University has denied any negligence in the death of Grace Osunlakin, a final-year student in the Department of Criminology and Security Studies. Governor Ademola Adeleke expressed deep sorrow over her passing and extended condolences to her family.

The university's spokesperson, Olawal Rashe, urged students and the public to remain calm as they review the circumstances surrounding the incident. Preliminary findings indicated that Osunlakin had not received treatment at the university's medical facility, contrary to claims circulating on social media.

She had participated in her final year project defense on Tuesday and returned to her off-campus residence, where she later complained of stomach pain. Efforts to transport her to a medical facility were hampered by an unannounced local ritual that restricted movement.

Upon arrival at a community health center, she was reported to have lost consciousness and was later confirmed dead at a specialist hospital in Ondo State.
