UNIOSUN Investigates Student Death, Overhauls Health Services

The University of Osun (UNIOSUN) is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of 400-level student Osunlakin Grace. Following a meeting with the National Association of Nigerian Students' Southwest zone, the university announced a significant reform of its healthcare services.

Vice Chancellor Professor Odunayo Adeboye expressed sadness over the incident and stated that a health center will be established at Ifetedo Campus, which will operate 24 hours to ensure uninterrupted access to healthcare services for students. The health center will be equipped with reliable solar power to address electricity supply challenges and will include qualified medical doctors and nurses.

The university also discovered several cases of students with serious health challenges that had gone unnoticed by their parents or guardians. The student union president, Oremokun Shedrack, formally presented student demands, including the relocation of the health center and the review of healthcare facilities across the university.

A committee has been constituted to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the death and recommend improvements.
